October
notes
I’ve
been away for the past couple of weeks so I haven’t been able to keep
Members up to date with what’s happening. This is the latest
information I’ve gleaned since getting off the plane yesterday….
Court
fencing – southern boundary
The
fencing contractors have started work on replacement of the southern
boundary fence. It will be late next week before the job is completed.
The work involves replacement of the old supports with stronger
uprights and renewing the wire netting. So digging out and
re-concreting is necessary. In order to minimise disruption, work has
started on courts 1 and 2, leaving courts 3 to 6 available for play.
The contractor will complete the refencing behind courts 1 and 2 before
moving on to the other courts. Clearly there will be some disruption to
court availability so please bear with us once again. We aim to have
all courts available (though some will not have back netting) for the
weekend. Timing is a little difficult to assess because ground
conditions have so far been against the contractor. Once completed we
should have some of the best facilities in the County.
Annual
General Meeting
I
still need to get up to date with AGM matters – but remember that the AGM
will be held at 7.30pm on Wednesday, 28 October
in the Lawn Bowls Pavilion. Nominations for all positions on the
Committee are invited – nominations close on 21 October. As I said last
time, should you wish to nominate anyone, you may download a nomination
form from http://www.chippenhamtennis.org.uk
. Alternatively, there are copies of the nomination form in the
‘Clubmark’ folder at the Club. You
must seek the prior agreement of your nominee to his or her name being
put forward and ensure that your nomination is seconded by another
member. Forms may either be ‘posted’ in the suggestions box
in the Club room, or e-mailed directly to me at tony.clark2@tiscali.co.uk
.
