March
2009 Notes No.3
Club
Session this coming Sunday
A
quick reminder to those who may not have been keeping a wary eye on the
Club diary. There will be a junior tournament at the Club this coming
Sunday, 15 March, from 9.30. It will occupy 4 courts until round about
11.00 and 2 courts thereafter, until just before lunch. You may wish to
delay coming to our Club session until, say, 11.00 am.
Summer
League
Men’s
practice has now started and there is a session every Wednesday 6.30
onwards for all males of team standard to 'show off' to all captains
for potential future selection. Practice will continue every Wednesday
up until the start of the league season in late April.
Based on previous performances and how well potential players have
developed over the winter, squads for all the teams will be selected by
a joint Captains meeting to be held in early April.
There will also be a list in the clubhouse so that all players wanting
to play can record their expression of interest.
Ladies
practice commenced on 12 March.

Need
to save money?
I’m
told that on 1 April 1st class stamps will go up by 8% and 2nd class by
10%. That is far higher than the rate of inflation is likely to

You
may like to consider buying a large value of stamps before 1 April as
they will be valid for use after that date. Bear in mind
that a lot of us use a large number of stamps at Christmas if not at
any other time. Buying early will save you a large amount of
extra cost.

Afternoon Ladies
The
Thursday afternoon ladies have asked me to remind lady members – both
full and part time – of their session every Thursday afternoon. They
play from 1.00 o’clock until round about 3.00pm. Any lady member who
would like to join them is more than welcome. If you have the time,
just turn up and play.
